Beginning an Exterior Project
Before you start your project, please email designreview@glenshiredevonshire.com to contact the Glenshire/Devonshire office to request a Design Review application.
Any building, addition, fence, wall, deck, shed, exterior structure, tree removal, landscaping, parking surface, etc., unless otherwise noted, must be approved in writing by the Design Review Committee as to the harmony of external design and location in relation to surrounding structures and topography.
Your application must be completed and submitted via email to designreview@glenshiredevonshire.com 20 days prior to a DRC meeting. The meetings are every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month and just the 2nd Tuesday of December, January, February and March, at 7:30 am via video conference. See below for schedule and deadlines. Applicants may, but are not required to, attend meetings.
IMPORTANT: When planning improvements to your property such as roofs, decks, fences, sheds, additions, etc. please refer to these links https://glenshiredevonshire.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Safer-from-Wildfires-by-CA-Agencies.pdf.pdf https://ucanr.edu/sites/fire/Preparedness/Building/ To view more links from our Firewise page: CLICK HERE
Fees
If you request and submit multiple applications at one time, then they will all be processed under whichever is the highest single fee and deposit that pertain to the projects you are submitting. (i.e. one fee for multiple applications!)
Tree Removal Requests
Tree Removals only need to go through the DRC process if they can not first be approved by staff. Please email designreview@glenshiredevonshire.com and request a Tree Removal Request Form to complete and return to be placed on the inspection list.
There is no fee for staff inspection.

The Design Review Committee’s (DRC) goals are to enhance the natural beauty and property values of the community, and to foster quality of construction and architectural compatibility among neighboring structures, and to promote a harmonious relationship between structures and the landscape. The distance between, and the design of, existing houses and the topography of a lot will influence the DRC’s decision for approval, conditional approval or denial. These rules and regulations are taken, in part, from the Subdivision CC&Rs, and reference to these documents should be made prior to the purchase of a lot or construction of an improvement.
